The Dragon

The Dragon is bursting with good health and vitality. Straight as a rod, and direct, he is incapable of meanness, hypocrisy, scandal mongering – and the most elementary form of fact or diplomacy!

Although he is hardly an innocent like a Pig, he has the courage of his convictions and can easily be made to mistake a sow’s ear for a silk purse!

The Dragon often gets himself into trouble for the worst of reasons. He is an idealist, a perfectionist. And his refusal to put up with anything but the best makes him ask too much of himself and of others. He demands a lot but he gives a lot, too.

Irritable and stubborn, the Dragon is a real big mouth and his words often outrun his thoughts: his heart runs away with his head. Nevertheless, however crudely expressed, his opinions are worth listening to and his advice is always good. People do, in fact listen to him and his influence is considerable.
The Dragon is over-proud. He is happy to the point of impetuosity, and he loses his temper easily.

He is gifted, intelligent, tenacious, willing and generous. And whatever he does, he will do well: as long as he lives he will never be in need.

No matter whether the Dragon chooses an artistic career or a religious, military, medical or political one, he is going to shine in it. HE will succeed wherever he does. He may devote himself to a great work. Whichever is, he will see it through to the end. Unfortunately, though, this talent works two ways: he can be equally devoted to a bad cause – equally successful in it. The Dragon just can’t help winning.

He is often loved, but he himself loves rarely. He is never worried by amorous complications and never disappointed in love. It is he, on the contrary, who is frequently the cause of some drama or despair. The women oh this sign are surrounded by admirers and often demanded in marriage.

Dragons are not prone to marry young: some of them in fact stay bachelors all their lives, for they are entirely self sufficient and have the tastes of the solitary. To tell the truth, they are happier alone!

If he is settling down, the Dragon can make a good match with the Rat, for whom warm hearted Rat can take anything the Dragon hands out – even if it is indifference. But the Rat will also profit from the partnership and the things the Dragon brings to it. For his part, will benefit from the Rat’s critical nature and taste for money.

Many things can be said for the Snake whose sense of humor acts as a brake on the Dragon’s pride. A Dragon male, moreover, will always be ensnared b the beauty of the Snake female, of whom, as a mate, he will be inordinately proud of.

The bragging, boastful Rooter gets on equally well with the Dragon. Picking up the crumbs of the Dragon’s success, the Rooster grows bigger on them himself.

The perfect “other half” for the Dragon, however, is the Money, in business as well as in love. With the Money’s guile and the Dragons strength, each has need of the other – but only the Monkey knows this! It’s worth remembering that, of all the signs, only those born under that of the Monkey can fool the Dragon!

A Dragon-Tiger relationship is hardly be a calm one. But above all the Dragon bust refrain himself from the Dog – a pessimistic, anxious realist who won’t believe in him.

The Dragon will suffer some minor difficulties during the first phase of his life, mainly because he will ask too much from those nearest to him. His parents in particular will be tried and found wanting. The artistic temperament will hand him in trouble in the second phase: still superior to those around him, he will sometime have the feeling of being misunderstood (though in fact he will be admired and disappointments will be as small as his successes are large). The more difficult he is, the less is he satisfied. But he will be happy – even if he is only aware of this happiness in the final phase of his life which brings him everything he desires.

The Dragon is a sign of luck. It is the sign of luck. It is the sign of the greatest celestial power, and it is the most rewarding influence astrologically. It symbolizes life and growth.

The sign of the Dragon brings the Four Benedictions of the East; wealth, virtue, harmony and long life.

But every coin has its other side. And if the Dragon seems at times to have more than his share of blessings don’t forget that the whole thing is a king o trick in a way. The make-believe Dragon makes you believe in him!

Daily, he glitters and shines. But his distinction is all on the surface. He wouldn’t really know how to dazzle, and his strength is only an illusion. The Dragon is a made up character, a fancy-dress beast, an animal for carnivals and parades: powerful-looking but placid. He can be made to spit fire, water, or even gold as and when needed.

But when the party’ over, we burn him – and they, like the Phoenix, he rises again from his own ashes as the next one’s due.
